Group therapy can be helpful when you feel isolated, emotionally overwhelmed, or unsure if anyone else understands what you are going through. Being in a supportive group environment allows you to connect with others, hear shared experiences, and realize you are not alone in what you feel.
Sessions are guided by a therapist who helps create emotional safety, confidentiality, and structure. Group therapy gives you space to learn from others, gain perspective, build communication skills, practice coping tools, and receive support without judgment.
Group therapy usually takes place in a small to medium size, therapist-led setting with a clear theme or focus. Some groups may be centered around anxiety, trauma, grief, postpartum support, women’s issues, or life transitions. You are encouraged to participate at your comfort level, and there is no pressure to share everything right away.
Over time, group therapy can offer emotional validation, accountability, and a deeper understanding of your relationship patterns. It can also support nervous system regulation, confidence, vulnerability, and the experience of feeling truly understood by others.
We frequently add new groups based on our therapists expertise and our clients interests. Please email us at clientcare@holisticmentalhealthnyc.com or fill out the contact form on the website to request a specific type of group for the future. Upcoming group information will be posted on this page 🙂
You do not have to have your anxiety figured out before reaching out. Our Client Care Team will listen to what you are experiencing and help connect you with a therapist who feels like the right fit—whether that is with us or elsewhere.
