PTSD, or Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, can develop after experiencing or witnessing overwhelming, frightening, painful, or emotionally unsafe situations. Trauma can come from childhood experiences, abuse, neglect, relationships, accidents, loss, medical events, violence, or other deeply distressing moments.
PTSD does not always look the way people expect. Some people experience flashbacks and nightmares, while others feel emotionally numb, hypervigilant, disconnected, constantly on edge, or trapped in survival mode without fully understanding why.
When trauma happens, the brain and body adapt to survive. PTSD symptoms are often protective responses from a nervous system that no longer feels fully safe.
You may notice fight, flight, freeze, or fawn patterns showing up in relationships, work, parenting, social situations, or everyday stress. Therapy helps you understand these responses with compassion instead of shame.
At Holistic Mental Health Counseling, we take a trauma-informed and somatic approach to PTSD treatment. We do not believe you are broken, weak, or “too sensitive.” We understand that trauma affects both the mind and body.
Depending on your needs, therapy may include Brainspotting, IFS, AEDP, CBT, grounding tools, nervous system regulation, mindfulness, somatic therapy, and trauma processing approaches designed to help you feel safer in your body and day to day life
You do not have to have your anxiety figured out before reaching out. Our Client Care Team will listen to what you are experiencing and help connect you with a therapist who feels like the right fit—whether that is with us or elsewhere.
Your free consultation is simply a conversation, with no pressure or obligation. Our goal is to help you find the support you need to move toward greater peace, clarity, and confidence.
